Growing academic interest and research into Asian culture has long been more than just a trend. These days especially, the focus is on the many faceted culture of Tibet, along with in-depth research in to such themes as Buddhist philosophy, literature, poetry, history and medicine. However, the exact subjects we are to offer are as yet undecided. One of our goals is to make ground-breaking work to this effect.

Academic thinking meets Asia.

Founded in 2003, ITAS places special emphasis on Tibetan, as well as Indian and other East Asian languages, philosophies and culture. We have combined elements of the Anglo-American system with the philological thoroughness characteristic of mainland European universities.

The curriculum is thus orientated towards the European student and incorporates the training of translators as well as providing support for doctorate training and scientists.
